## Licenses Are Anti American

To start, let’s dispose of a common misconception.  Licenses do not equate to qualification.  If we had no licensed doctors, we could still have certified doctors.  Licensure, in particular, is making actions illegal without the permission of the government.  From this perspective, is it right that the state has made doctoring illegal - illegal except as a privilege given by the state?  Is it right that the state has made practicing law illegal - except as a privilege given from the state?

Let's consider the trajectory of licensure.  Over the decades, the state has mandated licensing for more and more professions.  What if every sort of job required a license from the state?  What sort of freedom could you have if your ability to work was dependent upon not upsetting the state?  Would you be willing to speak out against tyranny if doing so threatened the revoking of your license? The license that allowed you to put bread on the table?  There is even a problem today that professionals do not speak out against malicious industry practices because they fear they'll lose their license in that industry.

Licensure is a form of government control.

The Declaration Of Independence states, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness".

With regard to the right to liberty, how free can you be if your ability to survive depends on a state granted privilege.  

The phrase "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" is a modification of a quote from John Locke.  John Locke presented that political society existed for the sake of protecting "property", which he defined as a person's "life, liberty, and estate".  During the time of The Declaration Of Independence, "happiness" meant prosperity and wellbeing.  As such, the phrase "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" can be thought of as an extension of John Locks "life, liberty, and estate", in which happiness includes estate, prosperity, and wellbeing.

To prosper, one must work.  By outlawing work, government is taking away the right to the pursuit of happiness and replacing it with a government granted privilege.  By using licenses instead of certification, government is promoting the environment of monopolies, promoting government dependence, and promoting eventual tyranny.  Just look at how corrupted our legal system and medical system have become.

In so far as The Declaration Of Independence encapsulates the spirit of America, licenses are anti American
